Melianthus major

Summer flowering. A very stately erect shrub which is clothed with deeply toothed, grey-green leaves that mature to bright blue. In summer it produces brownish crimson to brick-red flowers. May need winter protection in colder areas. Best in a sunny, sheltered and a moisture retentive, but well drained soil. 2-3 x 1-3m (6-10 x 3-10ft)
