Too hot!!!!
I can't believe it we're actually being held up by too much heat! The mild hot bed was constructed just over a week ago and, bearing in mind all sides are open to the elements, with all the very cold weather we have had over that period I thought that we would now be able to start sowing into it. It felt quite warm when Susie put her hand onto the compost top so we decided to test the temperature with a soil thermometer before sowing radish. The thermometer was in for under a minute before it reached a staggering 50ºC!
We have decided to leave it for another week before attempting to sow anything. I just hope the potatoes we put into the hot box, which is enclosed on all sides and therefore less affected by the outside temperatures, aren’t already baked!
