Fantastic Veg Weekend
The veg weekend proved to be a roaring success, despite Saturday's awful weather. The addition of two cookery demonstrations and Liz Dobbs, editor of Gardens Monthly magazine, added to such a beautiful day on Sunday. The chef's from Barnsdale Lodge Hotel, located just at the end of our road, proved very popular with their demonstrations of what can be done with seasonal vegetables and fruit. They were so popular I believe people were standing four deep just to get a glimpse of how to create the simple but very tasty dishes they demonstrated. The only down side was that by the time I got there, on both occasions, all the food had gone!

I was positioned on both days in the Allotment area of the Gardens and was joined on Sunday by Liz. Not only was she also answering questions but had bought along with her a range of tools for visitors to look at and get the feel of before they venture out to possibly buy from a garden centre. Some tools were tried and tested, but made by some of the less well known tool manufacturers whilst some tools were very different and generated a lot of interest.

All in all it was a busy but very successful and productive weekend. Fortunately I didn't have to spend any money this weekend which means I have plenty for the Craft Fair we will be hosting in the Gardens on the 29th of this month. This will be the last of our 2010 Summer Sundays, with our closing time also reverting to 5pm from 1st September.
