Collecting ripened seed required by nursery. Started to close vents and doors on greenhouses at night as temperatures fall. Carried out a very late summer pruning of APPLES, and PEARS. Pruned PEACH Allotment Every day picked up all fallen fruit. Broadcast sown BROAD BEAN 'Express', onto area vacated by CABBAGES, as a green manure. Picked off caterpillars from all BRASSICAS. Edging all grass pathways. Digging vacant plots. Cot COMFREY for compost bin. Greenhouse Sowed LETTUCE 'Fristina' into a seed tray. Week
2 Staked taller late flowering perennial, such as ASTERS, if the weighty flower heads were pulling them down. Watering pots and containers less regularly. Allotment Gave CELERY trench its last mounding of soil. Moved dried ONIONS into tunnel for cleaning up and bagging. Parterre Weeding and cultivating empty beds. Greenhhouse Hunted down and found a slug. Cleaned glass, benching and floor with an environmentally friendly bleach. Potted PARSLEY and LETTUCE into 12cm pots. General Mowing less now and have raised the blades on all mowers. Harvesting APPLES, PEARS and PLUMS. Allotment Side shooted all TOMATO plants. Harvested seed from BROAD BEAN 'Crimson Flowered' and PEA 'Forty First'. Sorted through ONIONS and removed ones that showed signs of rot and put the rest into net bags and put into store. Potted LEAF CORIANDER into 2 litre pots. Turned compost heap. Reclaim

Garden General Pruning rambling and climbing ROSES and tying in remaining stems. Finished hedge cutting BEECH, YEW and LEYLANDII and have now started secateur pruning the LAUREL. Allotment Picked all fruit from TOMATOES and lifted plants, shredded them and added the shreddings to the compost heap. All unripe fruit was laid out on greenhouse benching to ripen.
