Week 1

General
Raking leaves as they fall and putting into leaf bins.

Turned all compost bins.

Strimmed wildflower area and raked off all top growth. Top growth shredded and put into compost bins.

Allotment
Lifted PARSLEY 'Moss Curled', potted up into 3 litre pots and moved into a tunnel for winter cropping.

Topped up bark pathways.

Cleaned through BRASSICAS. Lifted PARSLEY 'Moss Curled', potted up into 3 litre pots and moved into a tunnel for winter cropping.

Week 2

General
As the weather has been mild during the days the grass has not stopped growing. Therefore, we have had to give it a very light cut.

Colder nights have meant that the heating has had to be turned on in the frost-free greenhouses.

Lifted DAHLIAS now that the tops have been frosted. The tops have been cut back and all soil washed from the roots before they were placed on shelves upside down to dry.

Allotment
Lifted last two varieties of maincrop POTATO.

Spread well rotted manure and rotovated area that had been occupied by maincrop POTATOES.

Checking through |ONIONS and removed any that show signs of rotting.

Nursery
Digging up and dividing plants from the gardens. These will be potted on and put out for sale later in the spring.

Week 3

General
Spread bark around plants in the Garden News Tranquil Garden.

Checking tree stakes and tightening or loosening, as required.

Topping up water features.

Cutting back and weeding in borders.

Allotment
Cleaned through LEEKS.

Parterre
Directly sown two rows each of MUSTARD SPINACH 'Komatsura' and CHINESE KALE 'Kailaan'.

Elizabethan Vegetable Garden
Tidied through beds.

Greenhouse
Cleared out all TOMATO, AUBERGINE and PEPPER plants, shredded them and then put then in the compost bin.

Week 4

General
Tidied through cut flower area.

Raking up leaves.

Winter pruning shrubs that need it, particularly to shape them.

Lifting, dividing and replanting smaller clumps of any perennials that have got too big and need revitalising.

Placed dried DAHLIA tubers into trays and covered with very slightly moist compost and put into a frost-free greenhouse.

Allotment
Digging over vacant areas.

Parterre
Pulled up and composted all NASTURTIUMS. All plants put into compost bin.

Greenhouse
Moved everything out of the greenhouse and gave it a really good clean using environmentally friendly bleach.
