Mediterranean Garden

Designed and built to be a garden filled with plants that like it hot and dry.

In order to improve the drainage of our heavy clay soil we have incorporated lots of coarse grit and mounded the soil. These mounds enable us to plant the varieties that like very sharp drainage at the top, as well as giving us important height variation within the garden.

We have topped the soil with pebbles to give an extra Mediterranean feel. The blue, beech wood chip has been kiln dried so that it retains its colour and imitates a flowing stream running through a dry and arid land.
