Week 1

General
Regularly watering and dead heading potted plants inside and out and feeding with high potash seaweed feed.

Trimming Buxus hedges using sheep shears.

Spraying infestations of aphids with soft soap solution every third day until all signs of the pest have gone. Most susceptible have been the Roses, Lupins and conservatory/greenhouse plants.

Pruned early flowering shrubs if they have finished flowering, such as Weigela, Philadelphus, Cytisus, Choisya and Syringa.

Allotment
Harvested ONIONS and lay on raised netting to dry.

Directly sown CARROTS and RADISH.

Harvested POTATO 'Foremost' from under polythene.

Sideshooted and tied in TOMATOES.

Week 2

General
Pruned long Wisteria stems back to 6 leaves.

Regular watering, ventilating when warm and damping down floors of greenhouses and conservatory in the morning.

Removing suckers from Roses, Prunus, and Sorbus.

Turned compost heaps.

Parterre
Removed BROAD BEANS and PEAS that have finished cropping.

Planted BEETROOT 'Choggia Pink' and BROCCOLI 'White Sprouting'.

Gentleman's Cottage Garden
Removed BROAD BEANS that had finished cropping and dug over vacant ground.

Ornamental Kitchen Garden
Tied in and sideshooted TOMATOES.

Week 3

General
Dead heading all flowers that have finished if seed is not required.

Weeding and planting through borders, where required, and incorporating compost.  All newly planted plants are watered in well.

Regularly picking raspberries, gooseberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants.

Deadheading greenhouse and conservatory plants, as needed.

Allotment
Harvested CAULIFLOWERS; POTATOES; KOHL RABI; FRENCH BEANS; TOMATOES; PEA 'Purple Podded' and BROAD BEANS.

Put GARLIC and SHALLOTS out to dry.

Planted RUNNER BEAN 'Painted Lady'.

Stringing up ONIONS and taken to store.

Greenhouse
Harvested CUCUMBERS and PEPPERS.

Watering.

Feeding TOMATOES; CUCUMBERS; MELONS; AUBERGINES; PEPPERS and CHILLI PEPPERS with high potash liquid feed.

Week 4

General
Regularly topping up ponds and water features and removing any blanket weed.

Keeping bird baths topped up.

Hedge cutting – Beech, Escallonia.

Mowing, strimming and lawn edging.  If mowing is carried out on a hot day we don't collect the mowings.

Checking greenhouses and conservatory for pests regularly and spraying with soft soap.

Allotment
Harvesting POTATOES; CARROTS; REDCURRANTS; BLACKCURRANTS; RASPBERRIES and TOMATOES.

Removed BROAD BEANS that had finished cropping.

Planted out LEEKS; PARSLEY; BASIL; LETTUCE and ENDIVE.

Parterre
Sideshooted and staked TOMATOES.

Greenhouse
Watering.

Sown CAULIFLOWER 'Romanesco' and CABBAGE 'Red Drumhead', 'Wheelers Imperial', 'April', 'Offenham 2', and 'Tundra' into trays.
