Dividing and replanting overgrown clumps of |falg IRIS.

Harvesting all RASPBERRIES, GOOSEBERRIES and all types of CURRANT.

Hedge cutting deciduous hedges and conifers.

Allotment
Dug over area from which the ONIONS had been removed.

Planted LEEK 'Musselburgh' and CABBAGE 'Autumn Pride'.

Continuing to pick and side-shoot SWEET PEAS.

Parterre
Hand weeded beds and pathways and filled gaps in paths with sand.

Netted KALE.

Planted RUNNER BEAN 'Painted Lady' for a late crop.

Glass House
Fed and side-shooted TOMATOES.

Sown CAULIFLOWER 'Evita' and 'Patriot'; PARSLEY 'Plain Leaved' and 'Moss Curled'; KOHL RABI 'Purple Vienna' and LETTUCE 'Burgundy Boston', 'Rusty', 'Fristine' and 'Granada'.

Week 2

General
Dead heading and removing finished flower spikes and saving the seed, if required.

Watering pots in greenhouses on a regular basis as well as damping down the floors and shading where required.

Sprinklers put on all night when required.

Mowing and lawn edging.

Weeding borders and pruning: WEIGELA, PHILADELPHUS, KOLKWITZIA, DEUTZIA, CYTISUS, shrubby LONICERAS, PHYSOCARPUS, RUBUS and CEANOTHUS.

Dug out dry stream and pond in the Japanese Garden.

Allotment
Directly sown TURNIP 'Purple Top Milan', 'Snowball', 'Tokyo Cross' and 'Golden Ball'; RADISH 'Scarlet Globe'; LEAF BEET 'Bright Yellow' and LETTUCE 'Triumph'.

Planted out AUBERGINE 'Black Beauty'.

Vale of Catmose students harvesting crops they had sown.

General tidying.

Planted out PEPPER 'Red and Yellow'.

Elizabethan Vegetable Garden
General weed and tidy up.

Fed TOMATOES, CUCUMBERS, AUBERGINES and PEPPERS with Maxicrop seaweed high potash feed and sprayed with soft soap.

Week 3

General
Summer pruning all APPLES and PEARS.

Seed collecting.

Cutting back perennials that have finished flowering to tidy them up.

Allotment
Weeding and tidying through.

Watering in the evenings.

Week 4

General
Regularly watering all containerised plants in gardens and greenhouses.

Pruning summer flowering shrubs and climbers.

Cutting BEECH hedges with petrol hedge cutter.

Allotment
Still tying in and side shooting SWEET PEAS.

Hoed between LEEKS.

Cut off the top growth from BROAD BEAN 'Dreadnaught' now that the beans have finished and left the roots in the ground.

Saved seed from Heritage variety BROAD BEAN 'Crimson Flowered'.

General tidy through.
