Week 1

General
During bad weather all the garden staff have been redecorating the coffee shop.

Nursery
Dividing and potting a wide range of perennials.

Allotment
Sown into frame placed on semi-hot bed ONION 'Ramrod'; CARROT 'Amsterdam Forcing', 'Ideal' and 'Siroeo' and BEETROOT 'Boltardy'. Also planted LETTUCE 'Fristina'.

POTATO tops starting to show in hotbox.

Greenhouse
Sown CABBAGE 'Poet' and PEPPER 'Mini Bell Yellow', 'Mini Bell Red' and 'Mini Bell Chocolate'.

POTATO tops starting to show in big pots.

Week 2

General
Pruning CARYOPTERIS, SPIRAEA, ROSES, EPIMEDIUM (old leaves), SAMBUCUS, summer flowering CLEMATIS, FUCHSIA, BUDDLEJA davidii, LEYCESTERIA, SANTOLINA and LAVATERA.

Finished pruning APPLE and PEAR trees.

Finished treating garden furniture with teak oil.

Allotment
Cut top growth and then dug in all types of green manure.

Topped up hot box with compost from compost bins.

Elizabethan Vegetable Garden
Directly sown BROAD BEAN 'Masterpiece Green Longpod' and 'Imperial Green Longpod'.

Planted SHALLOTS 'Delvad' and modules of BROAD BEAN 'Red Epicure'.

Greenhouse
Sown PEA 'Tafila' in staggered orws in a piece of gutter.

Sown TOMATO 'Floridity', 'Sungold', 'Shirley', 'Snowberry', 'Striped Stuffer', 'Marmande' 'Moneymaker', 'Alicante', 'Golden Sunrise', 'Tanzina', 'Cherry Bell and 'Tumbling Tom Yellow' and AUBERGINE 'Moneymaker', 'Bonica', 'Fabiana' and 'Mohican' into half trays divided in half.

Sown HDRA BROAD BEAN 'Bowlands' into 7cm pots.

Sown ONION 'Ramrod' into 2lt pot.

Potted TOMATO 'Big Beef', 'Ailsa Craig' and 'Nimbus' and CABBAGE 'Poet' into 7cm pots.

Week 3

General
Lightly trimmed all deciduous hedges to tidy them up.

Any shrubs identified as being in the wrong place have been moved.

Pruned autumn fruiting RASPBERRIES 'Autumn Bliss' and 'Autumn Gold'.

Re-placing any loose slabs/bricks around the various gardens and features.

Sown CUCUMBER 'Pefinex 69'; CELERIAC 'Brilliant'; BASIL 'Lemon'; CABBAGE 'Greyhound', 'Golden Acre', 'Sparkle' and 'Hispi'; LEEK 'Vrizo', 'Pancho', 'Autumn Mammoth2' and 'Snowstar'; PEPPER 'Hercules', 'Apache', 'Calimero', 'Jumbo', 'Hot Stuff', 'Jalapeno' and 'Inferno' and LEMON GRASS into trays.

Sown PARSNIP 'Lancer'; BEETROOT 'Detroit 2' and 'Little Ball'; LETTUCE 'Sangria', Mini Green', 'Fristina', 'Cerize' and 'Rusty' and CARROT 'Ideal into modules.

Sown RUDBECKIA 'Indian Summer, 'Cherokee Sunset' and 'Rustic Dwarfs' and TAGETES 'Sunset Giant', Dwarf Single' and 'Naughty Marietta'' into trays to be used as companion planting.

Multi sown ONION 'Lancastrian' into modules.
Sown BROAD BEAN 'Crimson Flowered' into deep trays.

Week 4

General
Digging our own garden compost and manure into the borders.
Still dividing where necessary.

Extension to main path in the Japanese Garden started which will go up to the tea house.

Allotment
Spread mulch of our own shreddings over RASPBERRY bed.

Made staging using old picket fencing to be put into the polytunnel to accommodate seedlings to be hardened off.

A tree came down and landed on one of our two polytunnels completely squashing it. Fortunately it was the one with nothing in it!

Sown ONION 'Red Baron', 'Beacon', 'Ailsa Craig' and 'Rijnsburger' into modules.

Potted TOMATO 'Sungold', 'Moneymaker', 'Marmande', 'Floridity', 'Tumbling Tom Yellow', 'Shirley', 'Golden Sunrise', 'Cherry Belle', 'Snowberry', 'Tanzina' and 'Striped Stuffer'; AUBERGINE 'Black Beauty' and PEPPER 'Hot Stuff' into 7cm (3") pots.

Sown TOMATO 'Sultana', 'Tumbler', 'Floridity', 'The Amateur' and 'Buffalo'; CELERIAC fro HDRA; CABBAGE 'Colt'; PEPPER 'Hercules'; CALABRESE 'Arcadia' and BABY CAULIFLOWER 'Idol' into trays.
