Week 2

General
Dead-headed all ROSES.

Had our Yew hedges cut by Limehursts, once processed a drug is extracted from the clippings and is used for fighting cancer.

Weeding, cutting back herbaceous plants that have finished flowering and generally tidying through borders.

Started to prune and tie in rambling and climbing roses to prevent wind damage to new shoots.

Allotment
Harvested the last of the 2nd earlies.

Sorted through drying onions and removed any soft ones.

Sowed green manure MUSTARD onto vacated POTATO area and PHACELIA on other empty ground.

Saved seed from PEA 'Purple Podded'.

Sideshooted TOMATOES.

Parterre
Sowed green manure RED CLOVER and ALPHALPHA into empty beds.

Elizabethan Vegetable Garden
Planted multisown BEETROOT 'Cylindrica' and 'Bulls Blood'.

Directly sown SRPING ONION; RADISH and ROCKET.

Greenhouse
Pricked out CABBAGE 'Wheelers Imperial', 'Tundra' and 'April'. and LEEKS 'Musselburgh' and 'Carlton'.

Sowed LETTUCE 'Nymans', 'Fristina' and 'Lakeland' into trays.

Potted on POTATO 'Salad Blue' micro plants into 5 litre pots.

Sowed ONION 'Lancastrian' and 'Guardsman' into modules.

Week 3

General
Pruning summer flowering shrubs once they have finished flowering.

Pruning any evergreen shrubs that need it.

Allotment
Weeded where necessary.

Planted out LETTUCE.

Greenhouse
Priced out LETTUCE 'Fristina' and 'Nymans' into modules.

Sown LETTUCE 'Little Gem' and 'Lolla Rossa' into trays.

Week 4

General
Mowing, strimming and lawn edging.  If mowing is carried out on a hot day we don't collect the mowings.

Regular watering and ventilating of greenhouses and conservatory, when warm, and damping down all floors in the morning.

Started harvesting early ripening apple varieties such as Discovery and these are used now as they don’t store.

Deadheading greenhouse and conservatory plants as needed.

Checking for pests in conservatory and greenhouses regularly and spraying with soft soap.

Allotment
Lifted main crop ONIONS and put out to dry.

Sowed more green manure PHACELIA and MUSTARD onto vacant areas.

Harvested TOMATOES, RADISH, LETTUCE and SWEETCORN 'Mini Pop'.

Planted CABBAGES, ONIONS, KALE and LETTUCE.

Sorting through drying ONIONS and SHALLOTS and removed soft ones.

Ornamental Kitchen Garden
Planted LEEKS; CABBAGE and LETTUCE.

Greenhouse
Harvested CUCUMBERS.

Tidied through and removed all debris.

Tidied CHILLI PEPPERS; PEPPERS and AUBERGINE.
