IRIS reticulata in coir rock garden

Artificial Rock Garden

This small alpine feature has been created using artificial coir-based rocks. These were inspired by the rapid disappearance of limestone pavements, mainly for use in amateur gardener’s rock gardens.

Geoff fronted the appeal to save a limestone pavement near Settle in Yorkshire, for the plant charity Plantlife, whose concern was for the many rare species of plants that grow in cracks and crevices.

The formula for the rocks is: 2 parts coir; 1 parts sharp sand; 1 part cement; Yellow cement dye.
